In 2009, the University of Cambridge celebrates its 800th anniversary. To mark the occasion, year-long celebrations are happening in the UK, the US and around the world. Events planned for the anniversary year will celebrate the best of Cambridge’s rich history and will look toward the future, reflecting on the myriad achievements, milestones, and world-changing ideas born within its walls.

800th Anniversary Gala - New York
On
December 5, 2009, nearly 600 Cambridge alumni and friends, including
many distinguished visitors from Cambridge itself, joined Cambridge in
America in New York City to celebrate the 800th Anniversary of the
University of Cambridge at a festive black tie gala at Gotham Hall.

800th Anniversary Reception - San Francisco
On December 10, 2009, nearly 300 alumni
and friends gathered at the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco for
a festive 800th Anniversary celebration with the Vice-Chancellor,
Professor Alison Richard, and other distinguished visitors from
Cambridge.
