800th Anniversary Gala - Light Show (11:51) |

This twelve-minute light show, by light artist Ross Ashton with special illustrations by Quentin Blake (Downing College 1953), was commissioned by Cambridge in America and was projected onto the walls of Gotham Hall in New York City during the gala celebration of the University of Cambridge’s 800th Anniversary, on the evening of December 5, 2009.
The text, made up of quotes from notable Cambridge personalities, was narrated by Katharine Upton (Girton College 2006) . The accompanying music is Spem in Alium (c.1570) by Thomas Tallis, performed by the Choir of King’s College.
