Nearly 200 Oxford and Cambridge alumni and friends gathered at the Harvard Club of NY on Thursday, April 12 for the 79th annual uninterrupted Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race Dinner commemorating the 158th Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race.  At the sold-out, black-tie event, a lively group of OxBridge alumni filled Harvard Hall and enjoyed speeches, toasts and good-natured jokes traded between the rival universities.

winklevoss-twinsAmong the speakers, Amber Creighton (Fitzwilliam, Cambridge) toasted The Queen and in response Dr. Iain Mackenzie (St. John’s, Cambridge) toasted the President of the United States.  American twin brothers Cameron and Tyler Howard Winklevoss (Christ Church, Oxford) spoke fondly of their time at Oxford and rowing for the Dark Blue.  The Response from the Universities was delivered by Professor Andrew Hamilton, Vice Chancellor of the University of Oxford.  Professor Hamilton spoke of the enduring rivalry and camaraderie between the esteemed Universities and the sportsmanship shown the Saturday prior on the Thames during one of the most eventful races in history.
