Anthony Freeling
Anthony Freeling, PhD assumed office of Acting Vice-Chancellor on October 1, 2022 after having served as the ninth president of Hughes Hall. He studied at St John’s College, Cambridge graduating with first class honours in mathematics followed by an MPhil and a PhD in management studies. He is Chair of the Colleges’ Committee (the group of all Heads of House) and a member of University Council. He is also a trustee of the PHG Foundation, a leader in public health genomics. Dr. Freeling spent 18 years of his career working at McKinsey & Company in the UK, where he was a senior partner, leading its marketing and sales practice across Europe. He is married to Laurel Powers-Freeling, who is also a Fellow of Hughes Hall and currently chair of Uber UK and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Europe and also of Cambridge University Health Partners and the UK’s National Joint Registry.
