Susan L. Poland is currently the Executive Director of Heart Care International, Inc. a non-profit based in Greenwich, CT that performs free pediatric heart surgery for poor children in Central and South America. She retired as Senior Counsel to General Electric Capital Corporation in December 2015 after 25 years with the company. Prior to that, she was senior counsel to NYNEX Credit Company and an associate at the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York City. She received an LLM from New York University in 1981 and an affiliated BA from Cambridge in 1979 (Churchill College). She received her first BA from Sarah Lawrence College in 1977.
Susan has served on the board of directors of and as pro bono legal advisor to Heart Care International since January 2002. She has also represented veterans of the Iraq War on a pro bono basis in successful appeals of denial of benefits.
