Una S. Ryan, OBE PhD is a limited partner at Breakout Ventures and managing director of Golden Seeds and Astia Angels, both of which are investing groups focused on women-led companies. She is also founder and president of ULUX LLC, a fine art company creating works based on cellular infrastructure combined with images from space. She is a board member of several public and private biotech companies. Until 2012, she was CEO of Diagnostics for All and prior to that she was CEO of AVANT Immunotherapeutics. Dr. Ryan matriculated at Girton College, Cambridge in 1963 to read for her PhD in cell biology, having completed her BSc at the University of Bristol. She received an honorary DSc from Bristol University in 2009 and was awarded an OBE in 2002.
