This year’s cohort comprises 79 new scholars. The scholars, who come from 30 countries, will begin their studies in October. They are studying subjects ranging from food security and bat reservoirs for viral diseases to how gut hormones control food intake and blood glucose levels. The class comprises 41 women and 38 men.
The University of Cambridge has become the first Higher Education institution outside of the USA to partner with the Posse Foundation, offering graduate studentships to young people from under-represented backgrounds.
The long-time vision of CAm Board member Una Ryan, (Girton College 1963) OBE PhD, will come to life as a pioneering new Fellowship administered by the Cavendish Laboratory for Physics in partnership with Girton College.
During the virtual meeting, chaired by Peter Dawson (St Catharine’s), the Board unanimously welcomed three new Directors – Gabrielle Bacon, Ph.D. (Hughes Hall), Ms. Alison Davis (Selwyn), and Mr. Roger Ferguson, Jr., Ph.D (Pembroke).
Cambridge in America (CAm) was founded in 2000 as a 501(c)3 to advance the mission of the University of Cambridge and its thirty-one member Colleges by providing expertise in fundraising and alumni relations and growing the base of support for Collegiate Cambridge among alumni and friends in the US.
